Chris Roberts â born Christian KlusáÄek on March 13, 1944, in Munich, Germany â was a schlager singer and actor and became one of the most popular singers in his homeland in the 1970s. He released his debut single, âBabyâs Goneâ, in 1967, and achieved chart success with 24 of his singles including âIch bin verliebt in die Liebeâ (1970), âIch Mach Ein Glückliches Mädchen Aus Dirâ (1974), âDu Wirst Wieder Tanzen Geh'nâ (1975), âDo You Speak English?â (1976), âLiebe Ist Gar Nicht So Schwerâ (1977), and many others. While most of his catalog consists of solo material, he did release several collaborations with his wife Claudia Roberts. He remained popular in the â80s although his records were no longer scaling the upper regions of the charts. Chris Roberts released dozens of albums, although many of them were compilations focusing on his â70s hits. In 1985, he became part of a sextet that represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest with their song âChildren, Kinder, Enfantsâ. Chris Roberts died from lung cancer on July 2, 2017, at the age of 73.
