Biography

Chris Roberts – born Christian Klusáček on March 13, 1944, in Munich, Germany – was a schlager singer and actor and became one of the most popular singers in his homeland in the 1970s. He released his debut single, “Baby’s Gone”, in 1967, and achieved chart success with 24 of his singles including “Ich bin verliebt in die Liebe” (1970), “Ich Mach Ein Glückliches Mädchen Aus Dir” (1974), “Du Wirst Wieder Tanzen Geh'n” (1975), “Do You Speak English?” (1976), “Liebe Ist Gar Nicht So Schwer“ (1977), and many others. While most of his catalog consists of solo material, he did release several collaborations with his wife Claudia Roberts. He remained popular in the ‘80s although his records were no longer scaling the upper regions of the charts. Chris Roberts released dozens of albums, although many of them were compilations focusing on his ‘70s hits. In 1985, he became part of a sextet that represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest with their song “Children, Kinder, Enfants”. Chris Roberts died from lung cancer on July 2, 2017, at the age of 73.
