Leila Arab, born 3â¯Septemberâ¯1971 in Pahlavi, Tehran, is a BritishâIranian electronic producer, composer and DJ. After her family moved to London, she first performed as a keyboardist for Björk in 1993, later working with Galliano and Aphex Twin. Her breakthrough came with the 1997 single "Donât Fall Asleep" on Rephlex, followed by the album Like Weather (1998) featuring Donnaâ¯Paul, Lucaâ¯Santucci and her sister Roya Arab. She signed with XL Recordings and released Courtesy of Choice (2000), touring with Björk on the Greatest Hits Tour. In 2008 she issued Blood, Looms & Blooms on Warp, collaborating with Terryâ¯Hall and Martinaâ¯TopleyâBird. Subsequent releases include Deflect (2008), Disappointed Cloud Anyway (2011), and the album U&I (2012). In 2025, her second album was reissued in a enhanced version titled Courtesy of Choiceâ¯Û²Ûµâ¦ asides and besides. Her work has earned critical acclaim within IDM and ambient circles.
