Biography

Lee Ki-chan (born January 10, 1979, in Seoul, South Korea) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor renowned for his emotive ballads and enduring presence in the music industry. He made his debut in 1996 while still in high school, after winning a talent contest hosted by a radio program. At a time when dance music dominated Korean pop, Lee's soft, melodic ballads distinguished him, gaining immediate attention. His debut album Na Na Na Na Nineteen sold over 220,000 copies, with the track "Please" becoming especially popular. Lee continued to release hit albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. His fifth album featured the standout song "Another Love Goes Away," (2002) written by Park Jin-young, and his sixth and seventh albums produced chart-toppers like "Cold" and "Repeatedly." (2003). Though he ventured into dance music with his eighth album in 2004, the commercial response was lukewarm, leading to a three-year hiatus. He returned in 2007 with his ninth album Para Ti, marking a return to his ballad roots with the hit "A Beauty." In 2006, Lee expanded into acting, appearing in various Korean dramas and later the American Netflix series Sense8.
