Laura Cortese, born in San Francisco, is an American singer-songwriter and fiddler. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston before embarking on her music career. Her initial releases include Even the Lost Creek (2006) and the EP Bad Year Demo (2008). In 2013, Cortese released Into the Dark, which marked a significant milestone in her solo career. She has collaborated with various artists, including Tao RodrÃguez-Seeger in the Anarchist Orchestra, Hanneke Cassel and Lissa Schneckenburger in Halali, and Pete Seeger. Cortese is also known for her work as a co-founder of the Boston Celtic Music Festival. With her band, Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, she released California Calling (2017) and Bitter Better (2020).
