Biography

Lana Eleanor Cantrell, born 7  August  1943 in Australia, is an Australian‑American singer whose career began in the mid‑1960s with the release of the single "Breakfast At Tiffany's" backed with "Since I Fell For You" in 1966. Signing with RCA Victor, she issued her debut album And Then There Was Lana in 1967, followed by Another Shade Of Lana and Act III in 1967 and 1968 respectively. Her 1969 releases Lana! and The 6th Of Lana continued her middle‑of‑the‑road pop style, while The Now Of Then in 1969 rounded out her RCA catalog. In 1975 the compilation The Best Of Lana Cantrell was issued, and the single "Like A Sunday Morning" reached number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 that same year. Lana Eleanor Cantrell earned the Amber Nightingale award in 1966 for a performance in Sopot, Poland, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1968. She later transitioned to a legal career in the 1980s, practicing in New  York before her license was suspended in 2019. Her RCA albums were reissued on compact disc in high‑resolution audio between 2017 and 2019, preserving her legacy in the pop standards repertoire.
