Biography

Charon, a Finnish gothic metal band from Raahe, was founded in 1992 by Antti Karihtala, Teemu Hautamäki, Pasi Sipilä, and Jasse von Hast. Initially a brutal death metal act, Charon released three promo albums and two demos before signing with Emanzipation Productions. Their first full-length album, Sorrowburn, was released in 1998, followed by Tearstained in 2000. After touring with Sentenced, the band signed to Spinefarm Records and released Downhearted in 2002, which peaked at number 3 on the Finnish Album Charts. The single "Little Angel" from this album reached number 5 on the Finnish singles chart. In 2003, Charon released "In Trust of No One", which debuted at Number 1 on the Finnish Singles Chart. The band continued to release albums and tour extensively until announcing their disbandment in June 2011.
