Biography
La Mojigata, a carnival group from Uruguay, was founded in 1999. The group initially participated in the Encuentro de Murga Joven in 1999 and 2000 before entering the official carnival contest in 2001 with their debut album Ya No Llega. La Mojigata continued to release albums, including Dosmildos (2002), Ya No Sale (2003), Nada Que Ver Pero Rimó (2006), and Una Especie En Extinción (2008). The group's director responsible was Ignacio Alonso, with various members handling the direction escénica over the years. In 2017, after an extended absence, La Mojigata returned to the carnival circuit with their show El Pueblo Ya Sabe Lo Que Quiere, securing an eighth-place finish and their third passage to the liguilla in their history.
