Biography
Kristina Train, born Kristina Beaty on 17 January 1982 in Newâ¯Yorkâ¯City, is an American singerâsongwriter whose early training in classical violin and participation in church and school choirs laid the foundation for a career that blends country, soul, gospel, blues, folk, and jazz. After moving to London in the early 2000s, she secured a deal with Blueâ¯Note Records in 2001, becoming the last artist signed by Arifâ¯Mardin. Her debut studio album, Spilt Milk, was released on 20â¯October 2009 and featured eight coâwritten tracks; the single "Waltz With Me Under The Sun" followed in 2013. In 2012 she issued Dark Black through Mercury Records, a project that earned praise from the BBC and the Huffingtonâ¯Post and was highlighted by Bruceâ¯Springsteen on his radio show. Subsequent releases include the selfâreleased Rayon City in 2021, Body Pressure in 2022, and County Line in 2025 under Blueâ¯Elanâ¯Records. Train has toured with highâprofile artists such as Herbieâ¯Hancock, Chrisâ¯Isaak, and Susanâ¯Tedeschi, and contributed vocals to projects by Marcâ¯Cohn, Robertâ¯Randolph, and the Tedeschiâ¯Trucksâ¯Band. Her work has appeared in film soundtracks, including Measuring the World (2012) and Queen of Carthage (2013), and she has been featured in advertising campaigns for Lexus and Gap.
