Kol Simcha, a Swiss klezmer band, was founded in 1986 as a duo consisting of Josef Bollag and David Klein. Initially performing at weddings, their breakthrough came when they began giving concerts, leading to the expansion of their lineup over the years. The name Kol Simcha, meaning "the voice of joy," was derived from a blessing spoken at Jewish weddings. By 1990, the band had released their album, Traditional Jewish Music. Notable releases include Contemporary Klezmer (1993), Voice of Joy (1994), and Crazy Freilach (1996). The band has collaborated with classical orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Symphony Orchestra and composed soundtracks for films like Gripsholm and Noah. Kol Simcha has toured extensively worldwide, performing on the radio station BBC. Their discography also included albums like Klezmer Soul (1997) and Noah (2007).
