Biography

Denis Cuniot, born in 1953, is a French pianist and musician. He co-founded the duo Peylet-Cuniot with clarinettist Nano Peylet in 1983. The duo released the album Musique des klezmorim et de leurs descendants in 1989. In 1995, he co-founded the group Orient Express Moving Schnorers with Philippe Briegh. The duo Peylet-Cuniot later released L’Amour des niguns in 2002. Cuniot left in 1998 to pursue a solo career, collaborating on projects like The Golem on the Moon (2003) with clarinettist Yom. His solo album, Confidentiel Klezmer (2006), received a "Coup de cœur Musique du monde" from the Académie Charles-Cros. He has also composed music for films by Robert Bober and was awarded the Prix de la Fondation Renée et Léonce Bernheim in 2009.
