Benedicte Maurseth is a Norwegian traditional folk singer and musician born on February 7, 1983, in Eidfjord, Norway. Maurseth began playing the fiddle at age seven and studied under Knut Hamre. Maurseth attended the Ole Bull Academy at Vossavangen from 2004 to 2006, focusing on the Hardanger fiddle. In 2005, Maurseth started performing extensively both nationally and internationally. Notable performances include appearances at TFF Rudolstadt in Germany in 2010 and folkBALTICA in 2011. Maurseth released the debut album Rosa I Botnen (2006) with Knut Hamre, Nils Ãkland, and Sigbjørn Apeland. The solo debut album, Alde (2010), was released subsequently. In 2014, Maurseth released the album Over Tones (2014). Maurseth won Young Folk Musician of the Year in Norway in 2007. Other notable releases include the albums Hárr (2022) and Mirra (2025).
