Biography

Kirsti Sparboe, born on December 7, 1946, in Tromsø, Norway, is a Norwegian singer and actress. She began her musical career at a young age, participating in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1965 with "Karusell", which placed thirteenth. Sparboe's involvement in the contest continued with notable entries such as "Dukkemann" in 1967, which won the Norwegian pre-selection but finished fourteenth in Eurovision, and "Oj, oj, oj, så glad jeg skal bli" in 1969, which placed last. Despite these outcomes, her participation in the contest significantly boosted her career. Sparboe also covered several winning songs from other years, including Spain's "La La La" and Ireland’s "All Kinds of Everything". In addition to her musical endeavours, she showcased her acting talents in a one-off BBC TV show, Jon, Brian, Kirsti And Jon, in 1980. Sparboe released several singles throughout her career, including "Von Mir Aus Kann Es Regnen / Wie Ein Wunder Kam Die Liebe" and "Du Darfst Nicht Weinen". Her contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest and her musical releases have left a notable mark on Norwegian pop music.
