Biography

Kirlian Camera is an Italian synth-pop band founded in 1979 in Parma, Emilia-Romagna. The band's experimental blend of dark wave, electro wave, techno, and melodic pop was introduced on Dawn, which marked Kirlian Camera's debut in 1980. Singer and keyboardist Angelo Bergamini continued to serve as the band's leader during the years that followed, overseeing a repertoire of songs whose danceable highlights grew to include "Blue Room", "Edges", "Ocean" and "Heldenplatz." During the band's infancy, Bergamini also participated in the side project Hipnosis, earning a platinum-certified single with "Pulstar" before rededicating his focus to Kirlian Camera in 1984. More than a decade later, the band earned an unexpected hit with 1998's "Eclipse," which became a popular song on the European club circuit. In 2018, Hologram Moon reached number 68 in Germany, marking the band's first time on the German charts. Three years later, the double album Cold Pills (Scarlet Gate of Toxic Daybreak) climbed to number 28 in the German charts. 2024's Radio Signals for the Dying also charted, peaking at number 76.
