Kevin Short is an American operatic bass-baritone who graduated from Morgan State University, Curtis Institute of Music, and Juilliard School. In 1989, he won the bass-baritone award for the Middle Atlantic region Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He began performing at the Metropolitan Opera in 1991, appearing in over 200 performances. Short notably created the role of Joseph in John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles. He also sang with New York City Opera during the 1980s and 1990s. From 2001 to 2004, he was a member of Theater Basel. Short performed at various international opera houses, including Lyric Opera of Chicago, Canadian Opera Company, and Houston Grand Opera.
