Biography

One of the most successful instrumentalists to ever hit the charts, Kenny G's sound has been a mainstay of easy listening radio, hotel bars and foyers for years. Gorelick started playing professionally with Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra in 1976 before graduating from University of Washington. He recorded with Seattle funk band Cold, Bold & Together, then cut two records with Jeff Lorber Fusion before signing to Arista to release as a solo artist in 1982. It wasn't until his Duotones album in 1986, featuring the popular single Songbird, that Gorelick found mainstream success and worked with other artists including Whitney Houston. His later Breathless album proved he had hit the big time, selling more than 8 million copies in the US alone, while he also had hit albums with Miracles in 1994 and Moment in 1996. He moved back somewhat to jazz coming into the new millennium, releasing a collection of jazz tunes Classic In The Key Of G, then into tropical with Paradise in 2002. He continued to mix it up with At Last... The Duets in 2004, big band efforts Holiday Collection and I'm In The Mood For Love, before Latin-themed Rhythm And Romance.
