Biography

The English guitarist Peter White rose to prominence as a sideman for Al Stewart with his distinctive jazz-influenced style acting as counterpoint to Stewart's folk-orientated playing. During his 20-year tenure with Stewart, White co-wrote many of his songs including the US number one hit 'Time Passages' which also made the top ten in the UK. During the 1980s White also accompanied the Polish singer Basia on a number of critically-acclaimed albums. The association with Basia came about through White's brother Danny who played keyboards in the 1980s band Matt Bianco. Basia sang for Matt Bianco and thus the connection was made. During the late 1980s and early '90s White was a regular player with the Los Angeles-based smooth jazz outfit Windows which also featured Al Stewart on vocals from time to time. White is an accomplished songwriter and as well as the hits he enjoyed with Stewart, Windows and Basia he has penned two further hits, both of which reached number one in the US Jazz Charts, performed by Grover Washington Jnr. Since 2000 he has been closely associated with US actor and singer Creed Batton and has helped produce three albums showcasing Creed's early work from the 1960s.
