Kemal Monteno was a Bosnian singer and songwriter born on September 17, 1948, in Sarajevo, PR Bosnia and Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia. He reached wider visibility in 1967 after recording his first song âLidijaâ. His recording career included the single âSviraj, gitaro mojaâ (1969). Monteno released his debut studio recording Muziko, ljubavi moja (1973). He subsequently released the studio recordings Žene, žene (1975) and Moje pjesme, moji snovi (1977). Monteno reached professional recognition for his composition âSarajevo, ljubavi mojaâ (1976) which reached wider visibility as an anthem for his hometown. His recording career in the 1980s included the studio recordings Za svoju duÅ¡u (1980), Dolly Bell (1981), and Uvijek ti se vraÄam (1984). He reached professional recognition for hit tracks including âBacila je sve niz rijekuâ and âNije htjelaâ. In 1991, he performed the hit duet âNekako s proljeÄaâ with the ensemble Crvena Jabuka. His discography included the compilation recording 50 originalnih pjesama (2014). Monteno died on January 21, 2015, in Zagreb, Croatia, of pneumonia and sepsis following a kidney transplant.
