Keigo Iwase, born on 29 August 1978 in Hiroshima, Japan, is a Japanese singerâsongwriter whose early interest in music began during high school when he began playing guitar. After moving to Tokyo, he joined the folk duo 19 with Kenji Okahira, gaining experience as a songwriter and performer. Iwase released his debut single "Kurikaesu wa kuchiguse to zaiakukan" on 23 October 2002, followed by "Drive Car" on 26 February 2003, and "Radio Stereo"on October 2003, establishing his presence in the rock scene. In 2003 he signed with an independent label and issued the single "NEW STANDARD" on 25 June, and the album NEWSpeakers on 29 October. Subsequent albums, including Porky Pie (6 November 2002), Bright day (7 March 2007), FLOOR (18 March 2009), and Asu no dekigoto (9 April 2008), were released over the next decade, each showcasing his evolving lyrical and melodic style. Iwaseâs work received modest chart positions, with NEWSpeakers reaching the top 30 on the Japan Oricon Albums Chart, and "NEW STANDARD" entering the top 50 on the singles chart. In 2013 he released You and Me and Her. Song Collection, a compilation of his earlier tracks.
