Biography

Kauko KÃ¤yhkÃ¶, born in 1916, in San Petersburgo, Imperio ruso, was a Finnish singer, musician, and actor who began composing music at age 13. He made his first recordings as a guitarist with the orchestra Amarillo in 1934 and started singing professionally at 20, acting as a soloist for the orchestra DallapÃ© and releasing âMustalaisvalssiâ in 1937. KÃ¤yhkÃ¶ gained fame for interpreting works by Toivo KÃ¤rki and Reino Helismaa, such as âRovaniemen markkinoillaâ and âMoukan tuuriâ. He received two gold records for âRovaniemen markkinoillaâ (1951) and âRakastan sinua, elÃ¤mÃ¤â (1963). KÃ¤yhkÃ¶ also acted in over 40 film productions. His final album, a compilation titled 20 suosikkia: Rakastan sinua, elÃ¤mÃ¤, was released in 2000. Kauko KÃ¤yhkÃ¶ passed away in 1983, in Espoo, Finland.
