Biography

Katherine Ho (born on July 13, 1999) is an American singer who jumped into the limelight with her Mandarin rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow” on 2018 the feature film Crazy Rich Asians. Born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California to Chinese immigrants, Ho began playing piano in her early childhood and was taking vocal lessons by the age of 9. She attended Avi Kaplan’s A Cappella Academy in 2015, 2016, and 2017 before graduating from high school that same year. Previously, she had appeared on the tenth season of reality music competition The Voice, under the tutelage of Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. In 2018, while she was still a freshman in college, she had the chance to record a cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow” in Mandarin, which boosted her popularity thanks to its inclusion on the soundtrack of the movie Crazy Rich Asians. Ho capitalized this success by releasing “Bellyaches,” her very first single, in 2019.
