Biography

One of Australia's most popular country artists, Kasey Chambers is the daughter of singers and musicians Bill and Diane Chambers. Born in Mount Gambier in the south of the country on June 4, 1976, she made her debut at the age of ten in her father's band, Dead Ringer Band, until 1998, before embarking on a solo career with the album The Captain (1999), produced by her brother Nash Chambers. An ARIA Award winner, she toured the USA with Lucinda Williams and opened for Emmylou Harris in her home country. In 2002, Barricades & Brickwalls was a huge success, topping the national charts and going platinum seven times over. From then on, Kasey Chambers saw her next three albums follow the same path to the top of the sales charts, including Rattlin' Bones (2008), produced as a duet with her husband Shane Nicholson, as well as Wreck & Ruin in 2012. Meanwhile, in 2009, the singer teamed up with her father to form the short-lived Kasey Chambers, Poppa Bill & the Little Hillbillies. After the No. 2 Bittersweet in 2015, the following album, the double Dragonfly featuring Keith Urban and Foy Vance, reached No. 1 in 2017. In 2018, the acoustic Campfire invited Emmylou Harris to join The Fireside Disciples, earning the singer a ninth ARIA Award and her induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Her thirteenth album, Backbone, followed in 2024 and reached No. 3 in the Australian charts.
