Biography
Kampfar, a pagan and black metal band from Fredrikstad, Norway, was founded in 1994 by Dolk. The band's name translates to an old Norwegian battle cry for Odin. Kampfar released their first EP Kampfar in 1996, followed by their debut album, Fra Underverdenen, in 1999. The band has toured extensively across Europe, including notable performances at the Moshfest in Halden and as headliners of the Ravnferd 2006 tour. In September 2008, they released Heimgang, and in 2011, they released Mare, followed by Djevelmakt in 2014, and Profan in 2015. Kampfar's music is deeply rooted in Nordic mythology, nature, and folklore, with lyrics predominantly in Norwegian. Ofidians Manifest in May 2019. Kampfar announced their disbandment in August 2017 but continued to release music, such as Ofidians Manifest (2019), until 2022 with the album Til Klovers Takt.
