Biography

Hailing from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Kelsey Kulyk is a Canadian country singer who began performing at three years old. A cancer diagnosis during her high school years resulted in months of chemotherapy, which claimed Kulyk's hair but couldn't dampen her spirit. The experience also brought her face-to-face with others who were battling cancer, too, and their experiences inspired some of her earliest songs. A guitarist since the age of 13, she began taking her musical cues from artists like Shania Twain, a Canadian native who launched a wildly successful career in Nashville during the 1990s. Like her hero, Kulyk eventually relocated to Nashville, too. Her self-titled debut album, Kelsey Kulyk, was released during the summer of 2019, featured the singles "More Time" and "Bad Liar." Although the album didn't chart in America, Kulyk did reach the charts in her homeland, where the stand-alone single "Who I Was" spent several weeks on Canada's Top 50 Country Songs chart. The song eventually peaked at number 34 in September 2020. Kulyk released several non-albums during the subsequent years, including "Better Off," "Big Deal," "Ain't Enough Whiskey," and the Eric Ethridge duet "Breathe Again." She eventually returned to the Canadian country charts with "Love Me Like An Outlaw," which reached number 47 on the Top 50 Country Songs chart in October 2023.
