Kalacakra was a German psychedelic rock band formed in Duisburg around 1971. The group consisted of Claus Rauschenbach and Heinz Martin, who shared an apartment in the Hochfeld district. Their debut album, Crawling to Lhasa (1972), was recorded at Willy Neubauer's studio in Düsseldorf and released on their own label with a limited press run of 1,000 copies. The album featured music composed by Heinz Martin and lyrics written by Claus Rauschenbach. Despite minimal promotion and few live performances, the original pressing of Crawling to Lhasa gained cult status among collectors, with its value increasing significantly over time. In 2002, Heinz Martin revived Kalacakra with new members to release their second album, Peace (2002), which leaned more towards world music but received less attention than their debut. The band disbanded in 2002.
