Biography

Justus Köhncke is a German techno producer and musician born in 1966 in Gießen. He began his career as part of the house trio Whirlpool Productions alongside Hans Nieswandt and Eric D. Clark, achieving a Number 1 hit in Italy with the track “From Disco to Disco” (1997). Since 1999, he has released tracks through the label Kompakt, combining minimal techno with disco and Krautrock elements. Solo albums include Spiralen Der Erinnerung (1999), Was Ist Musik (2002), Doppelleben (2005), Safe and Sound (2008), and Bass ist Musik (2013). Köhncke produced the single “Durch die Nacht” (2004) for Andreas Dorau and has worked on soundtracks with Irmin Schmidt. In 2013, he formed the side project Fainting by Numbers with Alexis Taylor.
