Biography

Blake Baxter, born in 1963 in Detroit, Michigan, United States, is an American techno musician. He began mixing records in the mid-1980s and released his early works on labels such as DJ International and KMS Records. His first notable releases included "Forever and a day" and "Ride em Boy", featured on the compilation Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit (1988) under Virgin 10 Record. Baxter's career saw significant milestones with the release of "The Prince of Techno EP on Underground Resistance Records in 1991. He also released One More Time (1992) on Tresor Records and Brothers Gonna Work it Out (1993) on Logic Records. In the early 1990s, Baxter set up his own labels, Mix Records and Phat Joint, and opened a record store called Save the Vinyl in downtown Detroit.
