Biography

Junichi Yamamoto (山本淳一), born 28 February 1972 in Hachioji, Tokyo, is a Japanese singer whose career spanned pop music and television. After graduating from Hachioji‑shi Linnan Middle School and Sumida Industrial High School, he entered the entertainment industry as a member of the Johnny’s unit Hikaru Genji, later renamed Hikaru Genji Super 5, where he gained early exposure through variety shows and stage performances. His solo breakthrough came with the 2008 single "Chikyū wa tomodachi –Eco Rap– ", which charted in the top 40 of the Oricon singles list. Yamamoto released his debut mini-album Artless on 6 November 2002, followed by a self‑titled album Junichi Yamamoto on 3 October 2012; the 2012 single "Shōnen" also entered the national charts. Throughout his career, he performed in concert tours across Japan, collaborated with fellow Johnny’s artists, and appeared in several television dramas.
