Shigeaki Miyazaki (born on February 24, 1958 in OnojÅ, Fukuoka, Japan) (known as Aska) is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Part of award-winning duo Chaga and Aska, who won the Yamaha Popular Song Festival with their debut single âHitori Saki (One Bloom)â the duo released their studio album Kazemai the following year, however it was their 1981 album NeppÅ« that saw them secure their first number 1 position on the Oricon Charts. Writing many of the groupâs hit songs, including âMorning Moonâ, âLove Songâ, âSay Yesâ and âMeguriaiâ, Aska debuted as a solo artist in 1987, garnering most of his success in the early 1990s with hit singles "Seiten o Homerunara Yugure o Mate" and "Hajimari wa Itsumo Ame (The Start Is Always Rain)â peaking at number 1 and 2 respectively, followed by a string of top 5 singles over the next ten years. His original albums achieved similar success with Scene II (1991) and Never End (1995) both reaching number 1, giving him widespread popularity over East Asia. Separating indefinitely from the duo in 2019, he released Breath of Bliss the next year, followed by Wonderful World in November 2022, a celebration of a 35-year career as a solo artist.
