Julie Christensen, born on January 21, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa, is an American singer and songwriter. She began singing as a child and performed at local churches. In her early career, Christensen joined Longshot, a country-rock band, and later moved to Austin, Texas, where she performed with jazz artists. She then relocated to Los Angeles and became involved in the punk scene, forming the Divine Horsemen with Chris D. The band released three studio albums and two EPs between 1984 and 1987. After leaving the Divine Horsemen in 1987, Christensen toured extensively with Leonard Cohen from 1988 to 1994 as a backup vocalist. Her notable solo albums include Love is Driving (1996), Soul Driver (2000), and Weeds Like Us (2012). In 2013, her brothers' band Jonesin' was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and she was also inducted in 2018.
