Biography

Borrowing elements from hip-hop, trip-hop, and left-field electronica, American DJ and producer Josh One's repertoire spans various genres and styles. Born Joshua Noteboom on March 14, 1975, in Sioux City Iowa, he made his debut with the single "Contemplation" in 2001. Over the next few years, he gained prominence as a remixer, putting his unique touch on tracks like Nappy Roots' "Po' Folk's," while also dropping his first EP Grey Skies in 2003. Narrow Path, his studio debut, arrived in 2004 via Immergent Records and listed Aloe Blacc and Myka 9 among its collaborators. A second LP titled Tolerance was released in 2009 by his imprint Boomnote Music, followed by a collection of remixes and instrumentals a year later. In 2013, his remix of Fitz and the Tantrums' "Out of My League" reached the top spot of the Billboard Alternative chart, also achieving Platinum sales in the US. Featuring appearances by Uncle Imani, Shana Halligan, Jamall Bufford, EIGHTY Bugg, and many more, his third full-length album Time Stamp came out in 2017.
