Josephine Foster, born in 1974 in Colorado, is an American singer and musician. As a teenager, she sang in church and aspired to be an opera singer. In 1998, Foster moved to Chicago for opera studies and began recording songs at home, releasing There Are Eyes Above and Little Life. She collaborated with local folk bands and released solo records including A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. Foster signed with Fire Records, notable for works like Graphic As A Star, which featured settings of 27 Emily Dickinson poems. Foster also contributed to the soundtrack for the 2020 film The World to Come, singing and co-writing the titular song. In 2017, she released the album I'm a Dreamer.
