Biography

Josep Guardiola Díaz de Rada, known professionally as José Guardiola, was born on October 22, 1930, in Barcelona, Spain. He was a singer, saxophonist, and violinist who gained prominence in the Spanish music scene. His breakthrough moment came with his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963, where he represented Spain with "Algo prodigioso" (1963). Guardiola released several albums throughout his career, including Una nueva melodia (1961), El dia mas largo (1963), and José Guardiola (1976). His notable songs included "Dieciséis toneladas" (a cover of Merle Travis's "Sixteen Tons") and "Mackie el Navaja" (a cover of "Mack the Knife"). Guardiola passed away on April 9, 2012.
