Joscho Stephan, born on June 23, 1979 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, is a jazz guitarist. He began playing guitar at age six and received classical training until he was 14. In 1993, he won first prize at the Landeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert. Stephan's interest in jazz led him to focus on this genre, winning additional prizes at Jugend jazzt in 1993 and 1995. His breakthrough came with his debut album Swinging Strings (1999), released by Acoustic Music Records. The album garnered international attention and was named CD of the Month by Guitar Player magazine in July 2000. Stephan has since released several albums, including Django Forever (2003) and Acoustic Live (2006). He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Paquito DâRivera, James Carter, and Tommy Emmanuel. In 2019, he formed the Transatlantic Guitar Trio with Richard Smith and Rory Hoffman.
