Biography

Australian-born but Ireland-raised, singer-songwriter and guitarist Johhny Logan is the only artist to have won the Eurovison Song Contest twice as a performer. In the 1980s the name Johhny Logan became synonymous with Eurovison, an era when Ireland appeared to have a stranglehold on the event. He won the competition for the first time in 1980 with the Shay Healey composition What's Another Year and again in 1987 with the self-penned Hold Me Now. In between his two victories, another Logan song titled Terminal 3 helped fellow Irish performer Linda Martin to second place in 1984 and in '92 Martin entered the competition again with another of Logan's songs titled Why Me, which went on to win the competition. He remains one of only five composers to have written two winning songs in the contest. Logan failed to capitalise on his early Eurovision success due to poor management by his then record company and it was only in the late '80s when he re-branded himself as Logan that his performing and song writing developed into a multi-million record selling career. Logan continues to live in Ireland and still writes and performs, making occasional TV appearances.
