John Bryn Williams, known professionally as John B, was born on 12 July 1977 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, United Kingdom, and emerged as a DJ and electronic music producer. He began producing at age 14, eventually founding the drum and bass label Beta Recordings and its subâlabels Nu Electro, Tangent, and Chihuahua, while releasing records through Formation Records, Metalheadz, and Planet Mu. His breakthrough came with the 1999 Catalyst EP followed by In: Transit in 2004, which established his reputation for experimental drum and bass. In 2007, he issued the single "Up All Night", expanding his catalogue with tracks that blended tranceâinspired synths and drum and bass rhythms. John Bryn Williams maintained a presence on the international club circuit, supporting tours across Europe and the United States. His career was highlighted by a 76th place ranking in DJ Magazineâs 2010 Top 100 DJs list and a 1st place position in the 2009 drum and bass ranking. John Bâs influence remains evident in the evolution of electroâstep and the broader drum and bass scene.
