Johannes Stefan Enders, born on May 12, 1967 in Weilheim in Oberbayern, Germany, is a German jazz saxophonist. He played in his school's big band and formed his first band with Micha and Markus Acher of The Notwist. After studying at the Munich Conservatory and moving to New York City in 1988 to study jazz at the New School under Reggie Workman, Dave Liebman, and Jerry Bergonzi, Enders released his first album Reflections of South Africa with the Hilton Schilder Trio in 1992. Upon returning to Germany, he formed several bands including Tied & Tickled Trio in the 1990s and Scalesenders in 1993. His notable albums include Bright Nights (1998), Quiet Fire (1999), and Soprano (2004). Enders has won multiple awards, including the Munich Culture Promotion Prize in 1998 and Echo Jazz for best saxophonist in 2012.
