Biography

Johan Gielen, born Johan Gielen on 23 February 1968 in Mol, Belgium, is a Belgian DJ whose career began in his teens with early trance experiments. His first commercial breakthrough came with the 1999 single "L'Esperanza", which achieved widespread airplay across Europe and attracted remixes from prominent producers. In the early 2000s he released compilation album, Velvet Moods (2000), establishing a presence on the trance scene. The 2006 album Revelations on his own Tunes For You label, later acquired by Black Hole, produced the hit "Revelations, Right From My Heart" and "Magnitude", both receiving significant radio rotation. Throughout the decade, Gielen collaborated with artists such as Jes and released tracks under pseudonyms like Airscape, contributing to the genre’s evolution. He toured extensively in Japan, Australia, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and held residencies at clubs such as Velfarre in Tokyo and Gorgeous in Copenhagen. Gielen’s output continued with Trance Classics – The World Edition (2017) and various remix projects, maintaining his influence in electronic music.
