José Ãñigo Homer Lacambra Ayala, known professionally as Joey Ayala, is a Filipino singer-songwriter and musician born on June 1, 1956, in Bukidnon, Philippines. Ayala started a music career with an album recorded in a makeshift studio in Davao City in 1982. His music integrates Filipino ethnic instruments with modern pop elements. His band Bagong Lumad translates to "New Native," reflecting a philosophy carried over into the Bagong Lumad Artists Foundation, Inc. He released the debut album Panganay ng Umaga in 1985, followed by notable albums such as Magkabilaan (1987) and Mga Awit ng Tanod-lupa (1991). Ayala participated in the Philippine Popular Music Festival, with the song "Papel" as a finalist in 2013. His accolades include the Fr. Neri Satur Award for Environmental Heroism (2009) and the Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. Award for Social Artistry (2007).
