Biography

JmaX, real name Yannick Sébastien, is a French singer and songwriter, born on June 2, 1990 in Yvelines, Île-de-France. The son of a Martinican mother and a Guadeloupean father, he is deeply rooted in West Indian culture. At the age of 3, he moved to Martinique with his mother and brother, while his father returned to Guadeloupe. This dual island influence shaped his musical universe. From an early age, JmaX was introduced to reggae-dancehall music by his older brother, DJ Pepsee. He cites artists such as Admiral T, Saïk and Young Chang MC among his influences. Over the years, JmaX has developed a musical style blending dancehall, zouk and RnB, reflecting the richness of his West Indian origins. His tracks such as"Atirans","Bobo" and"Doudou" have been a big hit with the public. His career has been marked by collaborations with various artists from the Caribbean scene, such as Keros-N, Shannon and Mikado, enriching his repertoire and affirming his place on the West Indian music scene. In 2024, the author and performer of songs about male-female relationships, partying and resourcefulness performed at the Zenith de Paris, the Olympia and the Elysée Montmartre.
