Biography
Scorpio Qveen, also known as Barak, is a versatile artist from Marseille. She describes herself as a "veritable artistic Swiss army knife", combining the roles of DJ, singer, dancer, performer and musician. An active member of the Maraboutage collective since 2019, she released her EP Couronne on the eponymous label in May 2024, reflecting her affection for dancehall and shatta sounds inspired by Jamaican and Caribbean cultures. Her love of Afrobeat and dancehall transcends genres and colors, delivering euphoric DJ sets with emancipating virtues. She has recently taken part in such notable events as the Fiesta des Suds in Marseille in October 2024, sharing the stage with the likes of Danakil and Fatoumata Diawara. She is also scheduled to perform at the Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon in May 2025, alongside Jersey and Tshegue.
