Biography

Created by manager John Pickles and DJs Les Hemstock and Ian Morgan, Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers' puppet took the European charts by storm in the late 1980s, racking up three UK number-one hits with the tracks "Swing the Mood", "That's What I Like" and "Let's Party", mixing rock'n'roll classics with techno sauce. The recipe, which blends original samples by Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Chubby Checker or Slade with synthetic sounds, flourished from 1989 to 1991, before finding its limits in the right to use the original tracks. The re-recording of the tracks enabled Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers to last a few years, producing themed albums around rock'n'roll, the Beatles or Christmas songs. A well-known DJ, Les Hemstock is also the creator of multiple Mastermix compilations, distributed by Music Factory.
