Jimmy Elledge, born James Presley Elledge on 8 January 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee, was an American country musician. At 18, he sent a demo tape to Chet Atkins, securing his first recording contract with RCA Victor. His breakthrough came in 1961 with "Funny How Time Slips Away", written by Willie Nelson and produced by Chet Atkins. The song peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over one million copies, earning a gold certification from the RIAA. Following this hit, he continued to record for RCA Victor, releasing several singles and albums. In the mid-1960s, he moved to Hickory Records and maintained an active career in music throughout the 1970s and 1980s, performing live shows and recording new material. In 2005, he released new record, Passion; however, his career was cut short when he experienced a major stroke just as he began promoting the album. Jimmy Elledge passed away on 10 June 2012 at the age of 69, following complications from the stroke.
