1997 was an American pop-punk band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in October 2005. The group initially consisted of members who had previously played in other Chicago bands such as Constance, Funeral Etiquette, and October Fall. They began practicing together in October 2005 and signed with Victory Records in October 2006. Their debut album, A Better View Of The Rising Moon, was released on April 17, 2007, followed by extensive touring across the US. The band's second album, On The Run, was issued on May 27, 2008, and included performances at the Vans Warped Tour. Their third and final album, Notes from Underground, was released on October 13, 2009, accompanied by a music video for "A Fearless Heart". The band disbanded in March 2010 after announcing an indefinite break via Myspace.
