Joscelin Dent-Pooley, known professionally as Jerskin Fendrix, was born around 1995 in Birmingham, West Midlands. Raised near Market Drayton, he learned to play the violin and piano from a young age. Fendrix's early career included composing the score for Alfred Jarryâs Ubu Roi at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2018 and collaborating with Black Midi on "Ice Cream" that same year. His debut album, Winterreise, was released in April 2020 to critical acclaim. In July 2024, Fendrix signed with Universal Music Publishing Group. Director Yorgos Lanthimos commissioned him to write the score for his film Poor Things after hearing Winterreise. The score earned a nomination for Best Original Score at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024, as well as well as awards like the Ivor Novello, Discovery of the Year, and Film Composer of the Year. Fendrix composed another score for the soundtrack of Kinds of Kindness, released as an album in June 2024. His sophomore personal album Once Upon a Time... In Shropshire was released on 10 October 2025 via Untitled (Recs), including avant-pop songs such as "Beth's Farm" and "Together Again".
