Biography

Jeroen van Vliet, born on April 8, 1965, in Rosmalen, Netherlands, is a Dutch jazz pianist, keyboardist, and composer. He studied piano under Willem Kühne and Bert van den Brink, graduating from the Utrecht Conservatory of Music in 1991. Early in his career, he performed with groups led by Paul van Kemenade and Eric van der Westen. In the 1990s, Van Vliet was part of the formation Contraband and subsequently formed the Impressionistic Improvisers Quartet. His notable works include Who's Afraid (1996), The Poet & Other Tales (2008), and Thin Air (2010). Van Vliet received the Solistenpreis at the Middelsee Jazztreffen Leeuwarden in 1984, the Meervaart Jazzconcours with Iris in Amsterdam in 1987, and the Boy-Edgar-Preis in 2014.
