Biography

Revered Swedish jazz vocalist Jeanette Lindsröm was born May 29, 1971. After earning a degree from the Royal Music Academy of Stockholm, she began her professional career, releasing her debut LP, Another Country, in 1995 and wining the prestigious Jazz In Sweden award. She continued to gain notoriety in jazz circles winning praise from such notable figures as Quincy Jones. Her sophomore release, 1997’s I Saw You, featured a number of songs she penned herself, bringing an introspective R&B shading to her mastery of the bop idiom. She switched labels for a run of albums in the 2000s that included 2005’s In the Middle of This Riddle, an album that was as much a personal singer/songwriter album as it was a jazz LP. She achieved her greatest success with 2009’s Attitude & Orbit Control, an album where she worked with mostly all new musicians and co-writers. This push for growth resulted in a 2010 Swedish Grammy in the jazz category. She took some time away from solo recording, but returned in 2019 with Queen of the Hillside, another collection of self-penned tunes recorded in a way that showcased both her roots in jazz, and her ability to incorporate numerous other influences.
