Biography

Hailey Tuck (born in Austin, Texas, on April 25, 1990) is a Paris-based American alt-jazz singer who moved to France at the age of 18 to pursue a career in music. After working in vintage thrift stores and making the rounds at the city’s underground jazz venues, Tuck finally released her eponymous EP in 2014 to great critical acclaim. The buzz built around the EP helped the singer land a spot at some Europe’s most famous jazz festivals, including a live performance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival in the UK. She followed up with the EPs So in Love (2014) and Delancey Street (2015), recorded as a trio with jazz musicians Eric Harland on drums and Joe Sanders on bass. Following an email exchange with legendary producer Larry Klein, Tuck flew to Los Angeles to record her studio debut. Composed of cover versions and original material, Junk (2018) was released via Sony Music and earned Klein a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year. Two years later, Tuck came back with the self-produced EP Coquette (2020), which channeled the darker side of the Jazz Age and cemented her reputation as one of the brightest stars in the jazz panorama.
