Jüri Pootsmann, born on July 1, 1994, in Estonia, is a singer who gained prominence through his participation in Eesti otsib superstaari, the Estonian version of Pop Idol. In February 2015, he joined the sixth season of the show and won it on May 31, 2015, with his debut single "Torm" peaking at number 7 in the Estonian Airplay Chart. Following this success, Pootsmann released his first extended play, Jüri Pootsmann, on November 20, 2015. His subsequent single "Aga siis" reached number 1 in the same chart. In 2016, he represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Play", although he placed last in the semi-final. Pootsmann released his debut album Täna on November 18, 2016, and another album Suveööde unetus on November 18, 2022. He also attempted to represent Estonia again in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with "Magus Melanhoolia", placing third in the Superfinal at Eesti Laul.
