Biography

Jan Lungdren is a classically trained pianist who started learning his craft at the age of five and went on to study (and eventually teach) at Sweden's premier music college, The Academy of Music. In tandem with his other musical commitments Lungdren has fronted his own trio known as The Jan Lungdren Trio playing alongside bass player Mattias Svensson and the current drummer Zoltán Csörsz from Hungary. As a sideman Lungdren has worked with most of the current crop of Scandinavian jazz specialists as well as international jazz stars such as Johnny Griffin, Billy Drummond, Dave Carpenter and Wolfgang Haffner. During his career Lungdren has generated a prodigious output of recorded work with some 50 albums as a leader or co leader and countless more as a sideman, session player or producer. He has garnered enormous respect from fellow musicians and critics alike and his albums invariably draw positive reviews. His playing style combines a flawless techique coupled with great sensitivity and emotion.
