Biography

Jaimeo Brown, born in 1978 in Des Moines, Iowa, is an American jazz drummer and bandleader. Raised in a musical household, Brown began playing drums at age 16 under Sly Randolph. He studied jazz at William Paterson University, graduating with honors in 2001. Immediately after graduation, Brown joined the Mingus Big Band as their drummer. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Bobby Hutcherson, Kenny Garrett, Wynton Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, Carl Craig, and Q-Tip. In 2007, Brown earned a master's degree from Rutgers University under Victor Lewis. He toured as an American Jazz Ambassador to the Middle East in 2009. He has been involved in numerous jazz recordings, including his own projects Transcendence (2013) and Transcendence: Worksongs (2016).
